ADOPTION
PROCESS
Please note, we do NOT post photos of our dogs who are currently up for adoption on our website.
1. FILL OUT APPLICATION
Once your family is ready for the unconditional love of a Schnauzer, you can fill out our adoption application to start the process.
5. FINALIZE ADOPTION
If the two-week trial is a success for all, we'll finalize the adoption, change microchip registration to your name, deposit your check, and send you all the paperwork we have for your new furry family member.
2. PREPARE THE ADOPTION FEE
Our adoption fee is $300 for a dog 9 years and younger; $150 for dogs age 10 and older. The adoption fee is NOT tax-deductible according to the I.R.S. Any amount over the adoption fee is a tax-deductible charitable donation. Adoption fees rarely cover our veterinarian, grooming, feeding, etc. expenses.
3. MEET & GREET
As soon as a potential dog has been identified as a good fit for your family, it's time to meet him/her! If it's love at first sight, we move forward. We will email you photos of the dog, the dog’s story, and the foster parents’ contact information. If you like what you read, you will contact the foster parent for a meet and greet with the schnauzer.
4. TWO-WEEK TRIAL
If you meet a schnauzer and want to take the dog home, the foster parent will have our adoption contract – a copy for you and a copy for us. Give the foster parent the adoption fee either in cash or a check made payable to AZ Schnauzer Rescue. We will hold that fee during a two (2) week trial. We want to make sure the dog and you are both happy with the adoption. If for any reason the adoption isn’t working out during the trial period, we get the dog back and you get your adoption fee back.

ARIZONA SCHNAUZER RESCUE
Arizona Schnauzer Rescue, Inc. is an all-volunteer non-profit, tax-deductible charity dedicated to finding new, loving homes for miniature schnauzers. We do not require a donation or fee to take a dog into rescue. Donations are tax-deductible, but not required.
All of our dogs must be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, groomed, housebroken and their teeth cleaned (if needed) before we adopt them into a new home. If a dog has any behavioral issues, we work on that before adoption.
We have a waiting list of homes desiring to adopt a schnauzer from us. We carefully screen the new homes and when we adopt a dog it is always on a two-week trial basis - to make sure the dog is happy and the people are happy before an adoption is finalized.
